Telephone Research Survey Interviewer

Great part-time TELEPHONE RESEARCH SURVEY INTERVIEWER positions available for $13.00 per hour with the Public Policy Research Institute, Texas A&M University.  Not required, but we pay more for Spanish/English bilingual speakers.

Conduct telephone surveys on a variety of topics.  Basic knowledge of computers and a good speaking voice is required to perform duties.  Requires the ability to multi-task, follow directions, and work cooperatively with others.  This is not a telemarketing position.  Minimum 15 hours/week, including 1 weeknight shift and 1 weekend shift.  Many day, night, and weekend shifts to choose from.  The work will be done in our office located near campus.

The Senior Research Associate assists the Principal Investigator developing and implementing a comprehensive communication strategy for a statewide research project involving dissemination of information and technical assistance to incorporate youth voice with organizational planning and policymaking through youth-adult partnerships. Provides support through creation of communications, reports, presentations, and other materials. Provides outreach to potential stakeholders and outside parties. Additional duties include basic to intermediate research for projects, attending conferences, providing analytical support and coordinating research tasks. Other related duties in support of research projects as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, communication, marketing, education, public health, or youth development field (Master’s degree is equivalent to two years of experience)
  • Four years of relevant professional experience

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to travel
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Knowledge of publishing, graphics, website and presentation software

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive communication strategy to promote awareness and connection to the Texas Youth Action Network (TYAN) research project
  • Compile or create and disseminate content promoting integration of youth voice and youth empowerment into institutional processes, policymaking, and projects
  • Maintain active TYAN social media identity and presence aimed at engaging youth and adult followers on all major online platforms
  • Publicize events, information, and resources offered through TYAN
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts, other TYAN team members, external consultants or website creators to establish comprehensive and seamless messaging
  • Develop and maintain a reciprocal external information network that integrates and enhances the TYAN communication strategy with like entities engaged in a common mission
  • Apply innovative communication strategies to strengthen and improve conference presentations, in-person or online trainings, web-based content, and printed materials
  • Collaborate with and assist specific communication needs of other TYAN teams responsible for recruiting community partner sites, delivering training and technical assistance, implementing conference presentations and an annual workshop, and evaluating the project
  • Deliver presentations, training, or technical assistance as requested

Job Description

The Research Assistant will assist the Principal Investigator conducting survey and program evaluation research. Perform duties specifically related to research activities including data collection, database management, interviews, records management, survey development and report creation. Will also attend mandatory interviewing and confidentially training, complete surveys and tracking forms, perform standard TAMU record-keeping tasks, submit time-sheets and mileage reports, communicate regularly with field supervisors via email and phone, and comply with data security and confidentiality protocols.  This is a temporary position and may last from December 1, 2018 to June 15, 2019 with no expectation of employment beyond those dates.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, Public Health or other related field
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working and/or caring for individuals with physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities (as a professional or volunteer) or working and/or caring for the elderly.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and provide proof of auto liability insurance upon job acceptance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Provides database management for various research projects. Plans, organizes and controls activities related to database systems. Provides technical and analytical support for project activities.
  • Assists Principal Investigator with research project activities such as: data collection sites, maintaining project records and providing quality control checks. Assists with development and implementation of project time lines. Organizes, manages, coordinates, and monitors tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Assists Principal Investigator with summarizing key information from collected data and creating written reports, publications, grant proposals, official correspondence and graphic presentations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Performs basic to intermediate research for projects to include literature reviews, internet research or phone inquiries, preparing presentations or providing analytical support for project activities. Collaborates with other research teams to support project needs throughout the department as assigned.
  • Assists with analytical and data management tasks; Provides database management for various research projects. Maintains project records and documentation; Assist with data analysis to fulfill routine reporting to sponsor, routine management activities, and special information needs within the scope of the contract; Creates summary graphics for reports and presentations; Writes, edits, and formats reports; Assists with the preparation of reports for submission to project sponsors and stakeholders.  Performs other duties as assigned.
